How to say “I Love You” in 8 Different Languages

Spanish – “Te Quiero”

In Spanish, you can say “te quiero,” to express that you love someone, which literally translates to “I want you,” but you can say it to your friend, parents, family, or significant other. You can also say “Te amo,” which means “I adore you.” This is typically used as a more intimate expression.

 

Italian – “Ti Amo”

Wondering how to say “I love you” in Italian? You can say “Ti amo” to express those passionate feelings. You can also say “Ti voglio bene,” which literally means “I want you good,” which is used a little more casually.

 

French – “Je T’aime”

In French, to say “I love you,” you can say, “Je t’aime.” But if you’re really crazy about someone and you want them to know it, you can also say “Je t’adore,” which means “I adore you. I’m crazy about you.”

 

Portuguese – “Te Amo”

Yes, this look just like the Spanish words for “I love you!” In Portuguese, the most commonly used phrase is “Te amo” to express your love.

 

German – “Ich Liebe Dich”

To say “I love you” in German, you would say “Ich liebe dich.” However, this phrase is reserved only for lovers. To say “I love you” to a family member, you would say, “Ich habe dich lieb.”

 

Chinese (Mandarin) – “Wǒ ài nǐ”

To say you love someone in Mandarin Chinese, you can say “Wǒ ài nǐ.” You can say this to your parents, friends, or significant other.

 

Russian – Ya Tebya Lyublyu

In Russian, you can say “Ya tebya lyublyu” to express that you love someone. You can also reorder it and say “Ya lyublyu tebya.”

 

Arabic (Modern / Egyptian Colloquial) – “‘Ana ‘ahubbuk awee” / “Ana baħibbak”

Because Arabic is the official language of many countries and has so much history, there are many variations and nuances within the language. But, the most simple way to say “I love you so much,” in Arabic is “‘Ana ‘ahubbuk awee.” In Egyptian colloquial Arabic, you would say “Ana baħibbak” if you are talking to a man, and “Ana baħibbik” if you are talking to a woman.
